What this usually means
A black iDrive screen is often software, battery voltage, module reset or coding before headunit failure. Check battery health and run ISTA faults first. Headunit replacement should be the last quote, not the first.
What to ask the workshop before approving repair
- • Show the diagnostic fault codes.
- • Show photo/video proof of the failed part.
- • Give an itemised quote for parts and labour.
- • Explain why cheaper common fixes were ruled out.
