What this usually means
A W204 no-start with key recognition can be electronic steering lock (ESL), electronic ignition switch (EIS), or key fault. Do not replace all modules blindly. Ask for a module scan and confirmation of which unit is not communicating.
What to ask the workshop before approving repair

- • Show photo/video proof of the failed part.
- • Give an itemised quote for parts and labour.
- • Explain why cheaper common fixes were ruled out.
